Celebrities congratulate Arshad for making Pakistan proud

Karachi: Pakistan witnessed another proud moment as its star javelin thrower, Arshad Nadeem bagged a gold medal for country during ongoing Commonwealth Games in Birmingham. During first round of javelin throw final, Nadeem created a record through an 86.81 metre throw. In second attempt, Arshad broke his own record by achieving an 88m throw, followed by an 85.09m throw in in fourth attempt to remain on top of list. In fifth attempt, Olympian set a new CWG record of a 90.18m throw and became first Pakistani to hold record.
Arshad Nadeem beat India's Neeraj Chopra's Tokyo Olympic throw of 87.58m (Gold) and World Athletics Championship throw of 88.13m. This is second gold for Pakistan in Commonwealth Games 2022. Earlier, weightlifter Nooh Dastagir Butt had won gold medal for Pakistan in Commonwealth Games 2022 with a record lift of 405kg. Nadeem thanked entire nation for praying for his success. "Due to prayers of nation, Allah has rewarded me a gold medal," he said.
Nadeem said that despite elbow and knee injuries, he was very happy for winning gold medal. "However, I thanked my physicians who had worked with me during my training." Star athlete also thanked Pakistan Sports Board for providing him with facilities. Star performer of CWG, Nadeem also demanded government to provide athletes international level facilities. "I will also win a medal in Islamic games scheduled in Turkey," he vowed.
