Caretaker PM to represent Pakistan at ECO Summit in Uzbekistan: FO

Islamabad: Pakistan's caretaker Prime Minister, Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar, is set to embark on an official visit to Tashkent, Uzbekistan, where he will participate in the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) summit, as confirmed by the Foreign Office spokesperson during her weekly news briefing in Islamabad.
The spokesperson, Mumtaz Zahra Baloch, stated that the prime minister's agenda at the summit includes reiterating Pakistan's dedication to the ECO's vision for 2025 and the advancement of collaboration in trade, transportation, connectivity, energy, tourism, and economic growth and productivity. PM Kakar will also present Pakistan's perspective on the organization's future initiatives, emphasizing regional connectivity and mutual prosperity.
Additionally, Prime Minister Kakar will engage in bilateral discussions with Uzbekistan's leadership and other participating leaders.
Regarding the repatriation of illegal foreign residents, the foreign office spokesperson clarified that this policy applies to all foreigners residing unlawfully in Pakistan, regardless of their nationality or country of origin.
Furthermore, Pakistan intends to continue offering political, diplomatic, and moral support to the Kashmiri people in their pursuit of a just and peaceful resolution to the Jammu and Kashmir dispute.
Expressing concern about the dire situation in Gaza, the spokesperson emphasized the need for the United Nations Security Council to fulfill its responsibility in upholding peace. She called for action to lift the siege, protect civilians, and establish humanitarian corridors to ensure uninterrupted access to essential supplies for the people of Gaza.
