Caretaker Cabinet takes oath with pledge to steer country out of choppy waters

ISLAMABAD: Members of caretaker Cabinet of Prime Minister Anwaarul Haq Kakar took oath of high-profile offices amid unprecedented economic and political challenges.

President Dr Arif Alvi administered oath to Cabinet members at ceremony, which was attended by Prime Minister and officials. Sarfraz Bugti has been sworn in as caretaker Interior Minister, Aniq Ahmad Religious, Dr Nadeem Jan Health while Ahmed Irfan Aslam will join Cabinet as Law Minister. 

Dr Shamshad Akhtar has been named interim Finance Minister while Murtaza Solangi will hold portfolio of Information. Jalil Abbas Jilani will take charge as Foreign Minister, Umar Saif as IT, Shahid Ashraf Tarar as communication and retired Lt Gen Ali Anwar Haider has been named Defence Minister.

 Furthermore, Muhammad Ali has been named interim Minister for Energy, Gohar Ejaz Commerce, Sami Saeed planning while Jamal Shah will hold office of Minister for National Heritage and Culture.

Madad Ali Sindhi will take up role of Education Minister while Khalil George has been named interim Human Rights Minister.

According to reports interim PM Kakar has more or less finalised names for his Cabinet as both Hafeez Shaikh and Reza Baqir are not among candidates.
