Nobel laureate Malala Yousafzai highlighted catastrophic situation in Gaza and called for immediate ceasefire in recent social media post on X. Malala, who had previously come under fire for sending Jon Stewart her sympathies for death of his dog but failing to speak out strongly in favour of Palestine, shared post that highlighted difficult circumstances that people of Gaza are forced to live in. Malala contributed her own observations to post that described difficult conditions at school in Rafah, Gaza, in order to call attention to inhabitants’ predicament.

Caption of original post read, “Shocked by conditions at this school in Rafah, Gaza. 4,500 here come from Gaza City, Khan Younis etc. “ Malala conveyed her sorrow at state of affairs, highlighting that school, which was built with intention of educating and inspiring students, is now haven for thousands of people escaping Israel’s attacks.

Malala made strong appeal for world community to act immediately and not to hold off on calling for ceasefire. Israel’s current increase in violence against Gaza has continuously worsened conflict, resulting in great misery, mass displacement, and chronic shortage of essential supplies.
