ISLAMABAD: Islamabad High Court (IHC) has inquired “Can we give direction to Election Commission (EC) or otherwise.” Petition filed by Furrukh Habib seeking early completion of scrutiny of political parties other than PTI by scrutiny committee in prohibited funding case came up for hearing before single bench of IHC led by Chief Justice (CJ) Amir Farooq.

EC filed written reply in court. Court inquired can we give direction to EC or otherwise. Defence counsel Ali Gouhar told court scrutiny committee has been constituted by EC. High court can issue directives to scrutiny committee of EC. Umaima Anwar Khan’s counsel for PTI gave references of different decisions of Supreme Court.

Court while directing to satisfy it on matter of giving direction by this court to EC on next hearing adjourned hearing of case till March 29.
