Cabinet official punished for harassing woman officer

ISLAMABAD: A senior male official of the Cabinet Division has been awarded punishment after charges of harassing a woman officer were proved against him in inquiry.

According to the details, the Joint Secretary Admin Cabinet division conducted the inquiry in the complaint lodged by a woman microfilming officer of grade-17 against her in-charge. The woman officer had complained that her officer-in-charge, Deputy Director Technical ND Wing, had been constantly harassing her. She is being monitored by cameras and her annual Performance Reports (PERS) have been deliberately delayed. The complainant said that his in-charge’s behavior is rude with her. When the enquiry was conducted, some of the allegations made against the concerned officer were proved as correct. At this Secretary Cabinet Division Kamran Ali Afzal approved the disciplinary action against the officer in the light of the inquiry report and ordered to suspend his annual increment for 5 years. The action has been taken under Section 2(h) (11) of the Protection Against Harassment of Women at the Workplace Act, 2010.
