‘CAA sacks employee over hurling blasphemy threat’

Karachi: Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has sacked an employee who allegedly threatened female Christian Security Officer with blasphemy charges over parking row in Karachi. According to footage of incident at Karachi Airport, incident occurred when female Security Officer chastised man for allowing an acquaintance’s vehicle through security without vehicle pass.

Man allegedly threatened female officer with blasphemy charges, saying he would “Call preachers, I am mad and will cut you up”.

Female officer can be heard calling man out for threatening her with blasphemy allegations and daring him to register blasphemy case against her. Video of incident went viral on social media, inviting criticism and condemnation. A statement issued by CAA spokesperson said row occurred and that officials were aware of matter. Statement said that CAA employee had been dismissed from service and detailed investigation was ordered. PPP co-Chairman Asif Ali Zardari took “Strict notice” of incident, saying it was shameful to accuse female security to prevent her from performing her duties. Zardari directed federal and provincial governments to protect female security officer, adding that some elements wanted to bring bad name to Pakistan by using name of religion.
