‘BSE Exam Dept, officials held responsible for manipulation in SSC-II 2023 exam’

KARACHI: Inquiry Committee constituted by caretaker Chief Minister Sindh Justice (retd) Maqbool Baqar to unearth allegation of manipulation in result of annual examination of SSC Part -II 2023 by Board of Secondary Education (BSE) Karachi has held entire examination responsible for glaring mistakes and recommended to probe their malafide intentions through Anticorruption Establishment.
Caretaker Chief Minister after receiving complaints of manipulation in result of SSC Part-II Examination-2-23 by BSE Karachi constituted three-member committee comprising Secretary School Education Dr Shereen Mustafa (Chairperson), Additional Secretary U&B Afshan Rubab and Zubair Katbar Section Officer of U&B Department.
Inquiry Committee submitted its report and recommendation to caretaker Chief Minister on February 21 which CM approved and sent to chairman of board to implement as recommended by committee.
Examination team including Controller, Deputy Controller, Assistant Controller and IT team have been held responsible for glaring mistakes by committee. Committee has recommended probing their malafide through Anti-Corruption Establishment.
Committee observed that none of employees, called for hearing and statement, was serious which is evident from their written statements. It’s unclear what actual exam results were before they were announced and how many changes were made during announcement and publication process. Board introduced Optical Mark Recognition system for first time. However, teachers involved in assessing/checking answer sheets were not provided with any training, resulting in significant number of errors.
Entire examination team including Controller, Deputy Controller, Assistant Controller and IT team are responsible for glaring mistakes their malafide can further be probed through some agencies like Anticorruption establishing committee categorical in its report.
