Rawalpindi: An officer of Inter Services Intelligence (ISI), while leading an encounter against terrorists from front embraced martyrdom while seven other members got injured including two critically, military said in statement. Incident occurred in South Waziristan’s Angoor Adda locality where Brigadier Mustafa Kamal Barki encountered hardcore terrorists.

ISPR said that Brigadier Barki and his team put up valiant resistance against terrorists during encounter and officer sacrificed his life for peace of motherland.

“Defence forces of Pakistan and intelligence agencies pledge to reaffirm and demonstrate firm resolve to eliminate menace of terrorism from every inch of country,” it further said. Pakistan’s security forces have conducted numerous operations against terrorism across country, not only arresting terrorists and their facilitators but also foiling several attacks during last three months.

Meanwhile, three terrorists have been killed by security forces while three Pakistan Army soldiers were martyred after an attack on police check post in Dera Ismail Khan ISPR said. Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said in statement that terrorists opened fire on police check post in DI Khan’s Khutti area on night of March 20-21. Following attack, security forces immediately cordoned area, blocking all possible escape routes. Fleeing terrorists were intercepted in Saggu area of DI Khan district. After an intense exchange of fire, three terrorists were killed by security forces. Weapons and ammunition were also recovered from possession of killed terrorists.

During an intense exchange of fire, three Pakistan Army soldiers having fought gallantly embraced martyrdom. Martyred soldiers include Havaldar Muhammad Azhar Iqbal (age 42 years, resident of Lodhran), Naik Muhammad Asad (age 34 years, resident of Khanewal) and Sepoy Muhammad Essa (age 22 years, resident of South Waziristan) having fought gallantly, embraced Shahadat.

Military’s media wing said that sanitisation of area is being carried out to eliminate any terrorists found in area. It added, “Pakistan Army is determined to eliminate menace of terrorism and such sacrifices of our brave soldiers further strengthen our resolve.”
