Karachi: Sindh Caretaker Interior Minister Brigadier Retired Haris Nawaz and Caretaker Information Minister Muhammad Ahmad Shah yesterday held a joint press conference at the Sindh Assembly Committee Room. During the presser, the Minister of Information said in his opening remarks that on the instructions of the caretaker Chief Minister of Sindh, the caretaker ministers of Sindh should convey the performance of their departments to the public through the media. On this occasion, Caretaker Interior Minister Brigadier Retired Haris Nawaz said that the first focus is on ending Karachi’s street crime and curbing drugs in the city and educational institutions. Actions are being taken to prevent smuggling on the internal and external routes of the province.
Regarding illegal foreigners, he said that foreigners who have legal documents will not have any problem. He said that 41,000 illegal foreigners have gone to their country from Sindh so far. We are trying to send those who are leaving with full respect so that they leave here with good memories. He said that there are 147,000 Afghan national card holders in Sindh at present. He said that illegal weapons have also been recovered from illegal foreigners. Such people have also been found involved in terrorism in our country, strict action will be taken against such people.
He said that all the requirements of justice are fulfilled in the military court, the accused is allowed to have his own lawyer and after the decision, he has the right to appeal to the High Court and the Supreme Court. He said that today we have to decide that we have to eliminate terrorism and crimes from our country. He said that the killers of John Muhammad Mehr will be arrested in any case and brought to justice. In response to a question, retired Brigadier Haris Nawaz said that Pakistan has hosted 30 to 4 million Afghans over the years.
In response to another question, he said that the first is Pakistan, there have been martyrdoms of our citizens and military men, but now it is too much. In response to a question, he said that there is an effort to provide financial assistance according to the needs of the Rangers. In response to a question, he said that complaints about the police are also processed. He said that there are very good officers in the police and excellent police services are also on record. In response to a question on Safe City, he said that the Chief Minister of Sindh has very clear instructions in this regard and work is in progress on this project. In response to a question, he said that illegal NADRA cards have been blocked and action will be taken against the involved workers. He said that the accused involved in the mosquito colony incident have been arrested and the investigation is on. No one is allowed to take the law into their hands. In response to a question, he said that the institutions remain alert regarding any threat. Work is in progress on the facilities of the prisoners in the jails. A prisoner’s painting was sold for 10 lakhs, with which he made his mother perform Umrah. To encourage this prisoner, he was invited to meet his mother at the Arts Council on parole. In response to a question, he said that unemployment is also a reason for the increase in crime rate. In response to a question, he said that very strict measures have also been taken to prevent dollar smuggling. At the end of the press conference, Information Minister Ahmed Shah said that the Sindh government is ready for all the arrangements for the election on Feb 8.
