Breast cancer disease is on top in Pakistan: VC FUUAST

KARACHI: Vice Chancellor Federal Urdu University of Arts, Science and Technology (FUUAST) Professor Dr. Muhammad Ziauddin said that incidence of breast cancer are very high in Pakistan as one in every nine women in country at a high risk of catching this disease. Event was jointly organised by FUUAST, Higher Education Commission and Medical Microbiology Association of Pakistan. 

Professor Dr. Muhammad Ziauddin said that every year around one million cases of breast cancer are reported and this disease is at top in whole of Asia including Pakistan. Due to lack of awareness of breast cancer women in Pakistan are at increased risk of breast cancer, he said. 

Coordinator, Breast Cancer Awareness Program Dr. Sikandar Sherwani informed participants of walk and said that of course rate is very high among women but one percent rate is also found in men. He advised women suffering from breast cancer should eat more fruits in their diet. Focal person, Professor Lubna Anis of Breast Cancer Awareness Programme said that we can save many precious lives by timely research and treatment. Teachers and students participated in awareness campaign walk with wearing pink ribbons and holding balloons and banners.
