The holy month of Ramzan always comes with its countless love, care and blessings. It leads the journey of every Muslim direct to its creator. The Almighty Allah has bestowed this month to his creation to put their best efforts in a very stipulated short time. In this holy month, Muslims keep fasting from dawn to dust for the sake of Allah. Fasting (Suam in Arabic and Roza in Urdu) is a shelter and a crucial object to keep away from hell fire. Prophet Muhammad SAWW said, “There is zakat on everything and zakat on the body is fasting. Roza keeps the body clean and pious same as the zakat washes out the dirt from money and extra items. Fasting for thirty days kills each and every vicious and malignant elements of our entire body and keep it healthy and nutritious. Once prophet SAWW said that if people get to know the value of the month of Ramazan, they would have wish to be its part for each every day of year.
Fasting is one of the obligatory pillars of Islam. It is made an obligation by Almighty in order to make people God fearing, virtuous and pious. Ramzan is categorized in three divisions called “Ashras”. The first ten days are of Rahmat, the middle is of Maghfirah and the third one is the escape from the hell fire. This month is clearly specified in the Holy book of Quran. At the first night of Ramazan, the entire eight doors of Jannat (paradise) get opened and Allah keeps it open for the entire month. All the evil shaytans (devils) are seized and prisoned at once.
Entire holy books of Almighty Allah were revealed in the month of Ramazan. Similarly, revelation of Quran is also completed on the 27th day of Ramzan on the night of ‘Lailatul Qadr’. A night which is better than thousands of nights. This night is hidden in the last ten days of Ramazan in five alternative days. Anciently, when there were people with hundreds of years of ages, they used to worship Almighty. In prophethood of Muhammad SAWW, the age factor minimized comparatively to the antient tribes. In order to overcome the gap between the ages and to facilitate the Ummah of beloved prophet, Allah bestowed Muslim Ummah with Lailat ul Qadr, the nights of recess or meditation.
‘Baab ul Rayyan’; a door to paradise is only specified for those who keep fasting in the entire month of Ramazan with dignity, passion and piousness. Fasting is quite special obligation which is directly linked with Almighty Allah. The reward for fasting is mentioned in the following Hadeeths: “Every action of the son of Adam is given manifold reward, each good deed receiving ten times its like, up to seven hundred times. Allah, the Most High said: ‘Except for fasting, for it is for Me and I will give recompense for it, he leaves off his desires and his food for Me.’ For the fasting person, there are two times of joy; a time when he breaks his fast and a time of joy when he meets his Lord, and the smell coming from the mouth of the fasting person is better with Allah than the smell of musk.” (Bukhari). Abu Hurayrah narrated that the Messenger of Allah said: “Indeed your Lord said: ‘Every good deed is rewarded with ten of the same up to seven hundred times over, except for fasting. Fasting is for Me, and I shall reward for it.’
May Allah help us all to make every fast this Ramazan a shield in the Hereafter and an intercessor in the grave. May Allah not make us one of those who do not get anything from their fasts except for hunger and thirst. And May Allah guide us towards making this Ramazan a source for gathering numerous blessings and getting our major and minor sins forgiven. Ameen.
