Blast in Mardan claims at least two lives, injures five

MARDAN: At least two people were killed and five others injured, including police officer, woman and a child, in an explosion near Jalala Bridge in Takht Bhai tehsil of Mardan city in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, rescue officials said.
Mardan District Police Officer Zahoor Babar Afridi stated that explosion happened immediately after police vehicle passed over bridge, suggesting an attempt to target police. According to Rescue 1122 sources, ambulances and medical teams promptly arrived at scene, transporting deceased and injured to local hospitals. Casualties were taken to THQ Takht Bhai and MMC for further treatment and identification. Police has begun collecting evidence from site and have initiated an investigation into incident. Yesterday, amid fresh spiral of terrorist violence in K-P province, former senator and four men travelling with him were killed in roadside bomb attack on their vehicle in Mamund tehsil of Bajaur district.
