Beijing: Bill Gates Microsoft’s co-founder is set to meet Chinese President Xi Jinping during his visit to China, two people with knowledge of matter said.

Meeting will mark Xi’s first meeting with foreign private entrepreneur in recent years. People said encounter may be one-on-one meeting. Third source confirmed they would meet without providing details. Sources did not say what two might discuss. Gates tweeted that he had landed in Beijing for first time since 2019 and that he would meet with partners who had been working on global health and development challenges with Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.

Foundation and China’s State Council Information Office, which handles media queries on behalf of Chinese government, did not immediately respond to Reuters requests for comment.
