Bilawal says early elections would stir up Imran’s agenda

ISLAMABAD: Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said that he did not see need to hold early elections in country as was being demanded by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Chairman and former prime minister Imran Khan.
In an interview with Al-Jazeera, he said that current government inherited from its predecessor “a divided country and collapsed economy.”
However, he said incumbent government was looking for solutions to internal problems and consensus at international level.
He said in order to address challenged inherited form previous government, it was essential that whole country get united as no single political party or individual could address situation alone. Rubbishing accusations of foreign conspiracy behind removal of Imran Khan, foreign minister said political leaders were supposed to speak truth to their people instead of coming up with such conspiracy theories.
He said that it was for first time that prime minister was removed constitutionally through vote of confidence, not through coup or court order. Asked about early elections, he said instead of furthering democracy, early elections would instead further Imran Khan’s agenda. Bilawal said it was important for country to complete its five years term unless there was any urgency which currently was not there.
