KARACHI: Foreign Minister and Pakistan Peoples’ Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said that political maneuvering is being done over key appointment.
Speaking at inauguration ceremony of foundation stone of cancer centre and four new blocks of OPD on completion of 75 successful liver transplants at Dow University of Health Sciences Ojha campus Bilawal said, “Earlier people had to go abroad for liver treatment. Liver treatment is very expensive, while early diagnosis is very important for successful treatment of disease like cancer. At present time, only bad news is seen on TV, good news is less and political news is more highlighted.” He said, “Our country is suffering from consequences of war between Russia and Ukraine. Providing all-out help to flood-stricken people is at top of our priority list. Millions of people were affected due to unprecedented floods.”
Taking a swipe at political opponents, Bilawal said, “Unfortunately, political drama is being staged on roads. As of now, our system is not functioning properly. It is better for every politician to participate in elections, rather than to indulge in any sort of spat.” Continuing to give his take on key appointment, Bilawal Bhutto said, “Both allies of government and opposition should avoid making this issue as ‘controversial’. Appointment should be made as per Constitution and law.”
Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah said that his government firmly believes that affordable and high-quality health care is fundamental privilege of every citizen. Addressing programme organised to celebrate 75 liver transplants by Dow University of Health Sciences (DUHS) Ojha campus he said that it is privilege to stand before our healthcare workers who have worked industriously to provide quality healthcare. He congratulated Dow University of Health Sciences for launching liver transplant services for people of Sindh. Sindh government believes affordable, high-quality health care a fundamental privilege of every citizen. Healthcare system’s foremost challenge is providing adequate health coverage and equal access to medical services for all. “When citizens have to pay out of their pockets, they may delay or relinquish necessary treatments and risk becoming impoverished, especially by chronic diseases which require long-term care,” he observed.
Liver disease is one of our country’s leading causes of death and liver transplantation is only lifesaving treatment option. “Considering social strata, many patient s cannot afford liver transplants due to financial constraints.
