Karachi: PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari criticised higher judiciary and called out what he said were its “Double standards” when dealing with legal matters of PTI Chief Imran Khan.
Addressing seminar at Sindh Assembly here, he said public was looking towards Parliament and judiciary but “They can’t see any hope”. “I have to, unfortunately, say that it is very difficult for political parties to defend double standards and actions with which higher judiciary is proceeding.”
“غیر جمہوری قوتوں کو زیادہ موقع فراہم کرنے کیلئے ایک ایسے شخص کو وزیر اعظم بنایا گیا جسے پارلیمان، جمہوریت اور یہاں تک کے معیشت میں بھی کوئی دلچسپی نہیں تھی۔”

He added that it was not appropriate that “Prime Minister from Larkana is hanged” and PPP is still waiting for justice for Zulfikar Ali Bhutto’s execution but “Court waits for one week for Imran Khan”.
“Dual system of justice won’t work nor will we accept it,” Bilawal said. “This cannot happen that if Benazir Bhutto’s government has to be sent home then only Jang news editorial is enough but if Imran Khan sahib’s government has to be saved then they are willing to turn, fold and rewrite Constitution because blue-eyed has to be saved.”
Bilawal said judges “Make mockery of themselves” by repeatedly delaying Imran’s hearings and merely threatening to arrest him. Taking another jibe at judiciary for taking “Interest” in amendments to National Accountability Bureau law, Bilawal said judges were examining it closely because NAB law is not applicable to them.
PPP Chief said that among amendments to law, NAB will be expanding its scope to judiciary itself “Be it sitting judge or non-sitting former judge”. “There is corruption everywhere. It is present in Parliament and it might be happening in judiciary too,” he said. “If there is proper law and approach, powerful Chief Justice can end corruption and if there is proper way, it can be removed through parliamentary process as well.”
Addressing “Holy cows” of country, he said PPP would oppose legislation that makes it crime to criticise military and judiciary. “We are running setup of holy cows in which there is different law for common man and there is different law for holy cow,” Bilawal said. “I think law should be same for you and any of judges.”
