Lahore: Pakistan Peoples’ Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto stressed inevitability of judicial reforms and urgent need for politicians to come together to tackle nation’s challenges.

Speaking at seminar here regarding Bhutto reference, Bilawal Bhutto stressed PPP’s adherence to most aspects of Charter of Democracy, with only judicial reforms remaining unaddressed. He acknowledged government’s endeavours to introduce constitutional amendments for judicial reform and emphasised parliament’s pivotal role in leading such initiatives.

There is need for dialogue, problems will not be solved if politicians do not reconcile with each other, think about Pakistan instead of indulging in mudslinging and accusations, he added. Today farmers are taking to streets across country against government failure to start wheat procurement and fixing wheat support price at Rs 3,900 per 40 kilogram.

If Kisan Card has been issued in all provinces, such crisis would have been averted, said PPP leader. We have to play positive role to fix issue, he held.

He said that PPP always strives to bring improvement in system democratically, Parliament is an important institution for legislation and amendments, whatever can be done to improve system, we will do, he concluded.

He underscored PPP’s dedication to democratic progress and expressed concern over reluctance of politicians to collaborate, which impedes effective problem-solving.

Reflecting on PPP’s contributions to Pakistan’s constitutional framework, including Constitution of 1973 and 18th Amendment, he reiterated party’s willingness to take necessary steps for systemic improvement.

Bilawal Bhutto highlighted PPP’s resilience in face of criticism during election campaigns, noting subsequent adoption of similar approaches by other governments as evidence of party’s success. He urged politicians to transcend self-interest and focus on collective efforts towards Pakistan’s betterment, rather than engaging in divisive rhetoric.

Meanwhile, in message on 17th anniversary of tragedy, Bilawal paid tributes to workers of PPP and other parties who were killed in Karachi while welcoming deposed Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry. He said that “May 12 reminds us of consequences of politics of violence. History holds perpetrators of such acts accountable.

Bilawal Bhutto celebrated Mother Day with bittersweet post on social media site Instagram. He lost his mother Benazir Bhutto, who was former premier of country, in terrorist attack in 2007. However, he remembers her dearly and often gets emotional while recalling his beloved mom.
