LAHORE: Pakistan Peoples’ Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari sought support from Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf workers, assuring them that he would bury politics of revenge.
Addressing public gathering here in connection with PPP’s campaign for General Elections 2024, Bilawal said that Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz is now taking revenge from Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, adding that PPP is against any sort of political discrimination.
He said that politics of 1990s cannot be prevailed in 2024. He urged youth not to ‘waste’ their votes and exercise their right for best option.
Meanwhile, Bilawal once again censured ‘old’ politicians and said that country cannot be left on mercy of those politicians who already had many opportunities to serve Pakistan but ‘failed’ miserably.
PPP Chairman said these ‘old’ politicians had served as prime minister or chief minister for several times but did ‘nothing’ for common men. “Likes of Showbaz and Wasim Akram Plus were imposed on Punjab,” he added.
Bilawal vowed to implement party’s 10-point agenda against inflation, poverty and unemployment, if elected to power. “We will bury politics of hatred and division,” he added.
He said that PPP has been mocked for turning to Lahore for election campaign. “I want to make it clear that Lahore is mine not someone else’”
He said leaders of opposition parties have disappointed people and masses who are looking now to PPP for resolutions to their problems.
Those who used to chant slogans of vote ko izzat do (give respect to vote) are nowhere to be found, he said, referring to former PM Nawaz Sharif.
Bilawal reminded that those who now mock PPP’s limited presence in Lahore have forgotten that city warmly welcomed Benazir Bhutto, and in turn, she was elected as Prime Minister of country.
He said 17 federal ministries would be abolished and elites would no longer receive subsidies. Instead, he added, funds saved from these decisions would be spent on welfare of people.
