SUKKUR: Pakistan Peoples’ Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari requested Election Commission to announce date for polls in country. Speaking to media here, PPP leader said [constitutionally] it was duty of ECP to announce date [for holding elections].
He admitted, “There is no level playing-field for all in country. And that is my objection.”
Bilawal vowed that people’s elected representatives would be placed in Islamabad [after general elections]. “I want old ways of running country be abandoned. Masses have to face consequences of [bad] decisions taken in Islamabad.”
Although PPP was part of former ruling alliance, PDM, Bilawal did not speak of its failure when he said inflation, unemployment and poverty was biggest problem. “Economy is in bad shape. Solution to all problems is people’s rule,” he added. Bilawal admitted terrorism was on rise again as National Action Plan had not been fully implemented. “It was PPP alone which called for fighting against terrorism,” he maintained.
He claimed that weapons left by US had reached terrorists in Afghanistan. Those weapons have reached not only Khyber Pakhtunkhwa but also katcha area in Sindh. And he blamed PTI for rise in scourge, saying PTI Chairman relocated terrorists. Bilawal Bhutto blamed Imran Khan’s policies for surge in terrorist attacks and crimes in country.
Visiting to house of slain senior journalist Muhammad Mahar, Bilawal promising justice for murdered journalist, linked crime to presence of terrorist groups in Pakistan. During transition in Afghanistan after withdrawal of US forces, terrorists escaped from jails and reached Pakistan. PTI planned to relocate those terrorists here.
“General Faiz and PTI Chairman had no idea how long it would take for terrorists who were settled in KP to reach Karachi?”
He [PTI chief] ruined hard work done [by PPP] in few days, Bilawal alleged. After APS incident, our brave forces eradicated terrorists from North Waziristan, he stated.
He claimed that terrorism had been uprooted in Sindh. PPP broke backbone of terrorists. He demanded all those who had wreaked havoc [with peace in country] should be held accountable. “How did it happen? Why enemies of state are once again imposed on country,” he questioned. About Karachi, Bilawal lamented that consumers didn’t have electricity for eight hours, but they received bills for 24 hours supply.
