KARACHI: Masses in Pakistan are facing biggest fraud by ‘energy sector’ where Power Division claims total generation of electricity at 48,000 MW while its transmission is not more than 26,000 MW but it has shown consumers’ load at 175,247 MW and collecting huge sums from them fraudulently through bogus billing, exaggerated consumptions and blindfold load shedding resulting in trillions of rupees circular debts against nation.

It has been disclosed by Aneel Mumtaz, Associate Engineer through his well-documented volume-69 September 18, 2023. He addressed this volume to Chairman and members of NEPRA, Secretary Energy and Power Division.

Copies are dispatched to Director General FIA Islamabad, Director FIA Sindh Zone-I Karachi, Auditor General of Pakistan Islamabad and IG Sindh Police along with DIG Karachi South.

In his dispatch he raised subject and exposed criminal offence by government’s power sector authorities how and why four hundred percent more than its generation capacity and 700 percent more than transmission capability connections were sold to public and collected billions of rupees illegally and unauthorisedly by this fraud.

Similarly in Karachi K-Electric Company’s on record generation capacity is 3,555 MW while its transmission to consumers is only 2,200 MW but it has claimed actual distribution to consumers at 15,241 MW. How it is possible? Hence, consumers all over Karachi are compelled to face daily load-shedding of six hours to 12 hours but fake billing is rapidly increasing every month under various heads by this mafia.

Most interesting fact is that out of above-referred 3,555 MW claimed capacity, K-E’s own net production capacity is just 1,875 MW while remaining 1,680 MW is being purchased from IPPs and other outer sources. This is most serious criminal offense that it has removed copper wires and replaced by defective aluminum conductor cables all over city. For this criminal negligence Electric Inspector Region-1 Hashim Rahupoto and Region-2 Amjad Mahesar in addition to NEPRA are equally responsible, he said.

He disclosed that there are many places in Karachi where K-E energy supplies were never installed but its management is issuing fake bills with self-assumed thousands of units and claiming fixed charges and other levies with connivance of NEPRA officials. Aneel Mumtaz is also target of K-E management’s black-mailing and his residential connection is illegally disconnected since mid of May 2023, he is being harassed through unfair means also partnered by not only NEPRA but officials of Federal Ombudsman.
