The life in a big city has its own benefits as well as disadvantages, merits and demerits etc. The city life is very structured with problems issues etc as compared with the village life. There is varying difference in the lifestyle of both city and village life.

Those who live in cities are exposed to better living conditions, This life is the kind of life that every citizen always aims at, people living in cities have better access to food and other necessities this is because every urban city of India has a local governing body that takes care of its people unlike those people living the villages. The struggle to survive reduces in the city as there are more commercial corporations to offer jobs. City life is much modern and fun. People enjoy luxuries and comfortable amenities. There are number of facilities available in city life that are not available to those living in small towns. The first attractive thing about city is its lights and beauty. There is nothing which a person cannot find in a city. Even though everything is expensive here but people still prefer living in a city rather than a village.

In the city, many people live comfortably because of cultural, economic, and commercial facilities. Lifestyle in the town attracts people to migrate from rural to urban life. This is because when you live in the city, you have easy access to social amenities, entertainment facilities, and excellent infrastructure. The charm of city life is the major reason for the top level of migration from rural areas. However, contrary to what people believe, living in the city has its pros and cons.

In this article I will throw some light on the advantages of life in a city.

Advantages of city life:

ELECTRICITY:

  • The first advantage of city life is access to electricity. Unlike many rural areas that have no electricity, majority of the houses in the city have electricity which is a convenience to many.

TRANSPORT:

  • When you live in the city, you have access to better roads and better means of transport. Cities have access to better road networks, airports and trains that ease transportation.

AMUSEMENT AND RECREATION:

  • Cities also provide many opportunities for amusement and recreation. In every city, there are a number of cinema houses and multiplexes, where we can enjoy with family. Also, a number of restaurants and hotels are available for better food of variety. There are also many parks and gardens where we can enjoy the best natural beauty.

THE OPPORTUNITY OF EMPLOYMENT:

  • The most important advantages of cities are the availability of huge opportunity for employment. They are centers of trade and commerce as well as offices of many multinational companies. Persons with different qualifications can easily find jobs to suit them. This is because many industries and commercial centers are found in cities.

THE FACILITY OF EDUCATION:

  • There are better and more educational facilities in the city. This leads to a high literacy level for the people in these areas. There are also a very large number of school both government and private in the big city.

CULTURAL INTEGRATION:

  • City life also encourages cultural integration. This is due to the fact that in cities, people come from different regions and interact in work and residential areas. Cultural integration is hence enhanced.

MEDICAL FACILITY:

  • Cities also provide sufficient medical facilities. Almost in every city, there are good hospitals in which the poor get free medicines and treatment. Many qualified doctors are also there to serve the sick and the suffering.

City life can be great if one has a stable source of income. However, living in the city with no job can be very difficult which may lead to people opting for illegal ways to get money. It is hence advisable to migrate to the city with a stable job or with a business idea that you can develop. City life provides a better living standard and way of life.It broadens the perspective of an individual and offers scope in various areas. Advantages of city life are much greater than disadvantages.
