KARACHI: Pakistan Peoples’ Party (PPP) decided to field Aseefa Bhutto Zardari, daughter of former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto in upcoming general elections. According to details, PPP leader Aseefa Bhutto will contest upcoming general elections as party’s think tank has started considering various constituencies of Sindh.

PPP co-Chairman Asif Ali Zardari will make final decision about constituency from which Aseefa Bhutto Zardari will contest polls. She will also run her election campaign and address rallies in multiple districts in Sindh. Sources said that Larkana, Nawabshah and Sukkur can be considered for Aseefa Bhutto as contesting incoming general polls venues as PPP has popular votes in these places. However, all depends on Asif Zardari to finalise constituency for his daughter Aseefa Bhutto.

Decision came after Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif announced that incumbent government will hand over power to  caretaker set-up in August 2023. PM Shehbaz said that he assumed office in April 2022 and power will be handed over to caretaker set-up in August 2023.

Premier said that incumbent government fended off ‘landmines’ laid by previous government of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf besides ending Pakistan’s isolation on economic and foreign-level fronts.
