Benazir Bhutto ‘crusader for human rights, democracy’, says PM Shehbaz Sharif

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif paid tribute to politician Benazir Bhutto on her death anniversary, saying that she was “Crusader for human rights and democracy”. Shehbaz Sharif said Benazir Bhutto left an indelible mark on politics of country, adding that void left by her martyrdom continues to widen over years. He said black day of December 27, 2007 is an unforgettable day relating to martyrdom of beloved leader of people.
“Benazir Bhutto is shining example of democratic and political struggle who sacrificed her life while fighting for rights of people,” he said. He mentioned that as first woman Prime Minister of Islamic world, Benazir Bhutto was fascinating story of continuous struggle throughout her life. “We pay tribute to historical services of Benazir Bhutto for country, people and democracy,” he said. He recalled that Pakistan Muslim League leader Nawaz Sharif and Pakistan Peoples’ Party’s Benazir Bhutto gave historical gift of Charter of Democracy that started new era in country’s politics.

Shehbaz Sharif said Benazir Bhutto took bold and clear stand against terrorism and added that her martyrdom showed country’s determination against menace.

He extended condolences to family of Benazir Bhutto including his husband Asif Ali Zardari, son Bilawal Bhutto and all other relatives. He prayed to Allah Almighty to elevate ranks of all martyrs including Benazir Bhutto and grant patience to families.
