KARACHI: The much-anticipated grand finale of the elections battle concludes in Pakistan amid suspension of cellular services, terror threats, and allegations over rigging, alarming mismanagement and the ineffectiveness of Election Commission in declaring the final results timely.

At many places neither polling started at the right time nor the staff reached the polling stations at the desired time. Despite this lacking at the hands of the concerned, the turnout of the voters across the country was absolutely incredible.

The delay in announcing the election results on time was merely due to the reluctant behavior of the Returning Officers who did not disclosed the results to the media outlets rather gave a cut-short reply that “We have forwarded the results to the Election Commission, now you (journalists) and ECP should coordinate.”

Well, this never happens as once the Presiding Officers submits final results to the ROs then the Returning Officers are bound to disclose the final results sans any unnecessary delay but the situation in 2024 general elections was vice-versa.

In an absolute record-breaking historic results, for the very first time in the history of Pakistan in the light of the unofficial results declared by the Election Commission of Pakistan, the ‘independent’ candidates backed by the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf have emerged as frontrunners in the 2024 general elections after bagging 98 seats in the National Assembly.

Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz attained the second slot in the country’s election with  69 seats, Pakistan Peoples’ Party stands at third position with 52 seats in the National Assembly and clean sweep of Sindh province followed by Muttahida Qaumi Movement- Pakistan with 15 seats in the centre while 22 in the provincial assembly of Sindh.

Yes, when it comes to giving a surprise on the Election Day, then undoubtedly Muttahida Qaumi Movement – Pakistan (MQM-P) is one of those parties which have shown a dynamic and unprecedented results in the elections that will play a vital role in bringing an acceptable change particularly in the political landscape of Karachi.

MQM-P results in the 2024 elections tantamount to the revival of its political strength and the public confidence to a higher extent where now its voters and supporters are keen and in high hopes that deprivations will take its last breath and the leadership they have voted for will bring comfort to their prolonged miseries, grumbles and pain.

Interestingly, not a single major political group secured an outright majority, subsequent to which chances are higher to forming the coalition government. Well, after all this, it is now the need of the hour that all political groups should end differences, hatred and unfriendliness and shake hands for the better progress and prosperity of the country in the years ahead. Pakistan Zindabad!!!
