Blockbuster Hollywood movie Barbie is still awaiting nod of Punjab government despite fact that censor board has issued no-objection certificate. Screening of Barbie in Punjab is yet to get go-ahead of provincial government.
Movie hit cinemas and theatres on July 21 worldwide and is getting huge response by viewers. However, its viewing was halted by Punjab government across province for having 'objectionable' content.
Some cinemas including Lahore Cue, Cine Star and Universal Cinemas were earlier planning to show movie. One of cinemas had advertised to play movie and even sold its tickets. According to reports, raids were conducted by police and district administration and movie was halted in middle. Theatre administration was forced to refund all the tickets.
Censor Board officials claim that Board has removed objectionable content after briefly watching movie. Distributors agreed to remove objectionable stuff from movie. Board, gave go-ahead to movie and advertisement in theatres was also in full swing but police raided movie screening.
