QUETTA: Police arrested Balochistan Minister for Communication and Works Sardar Abdul Rehman Khetran over recovery of three bullet-riddled bodies, a mother and her two sons in Balochistan’s Barkhan district. “Sardar Khetran formally detained in this case,” senior police officer informed.

Balochistan government earlier formed special investigation team to probe Barkhan incident. Deceased were family members of local tribesmen, Khan Muhammad Marri. Victims were identified as Giran Naz, wife of Khan Muhammad Marri and her two sons Mohammad Nawaz, in his 20s and Abdul Qadir in his teens. Police said that bodies were recovered from well in Haji Kot area of district on Monday night.

Spokesman of Balochistan Police said that Commandant Balochistan Constabulary Salman Chaudhry would lead special investigation team, adding that case was also transferred from Barkhan to Crimes Branch Quetta for investigation.

He said that Deputy Inspector General of Police Quetta, DIG Special Branch, and Senior Superintendent of Police would be members of team. Meanwhile, heirs and Marri tribesmen continued their protest demonstration in Red Zone of Quetta to mount pressure on provincial government to arrest culprits involved in killings. Khan Muhammad Marri has accused Balochistan Minister for Communication and Works Sardar Abdul Rehman Khetran of killing his family members, charge vehemently denied by Minister. “I demand fair and impartial investigation into incident,” Khan Muhammad Marri said.
