Bajaur blast: Interim PM vows to continue anti-polio mission

ISLAMABAD: Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaarul Haq Kakar expressed resolve that anti-polio mission will effectively continue till complete eradication of virus.

Statement came after five policemen were martyred while 27 people injured in blast near police van carrying personnel for escorting polio vaccinators in Mamond tehsil. Polio campaign in area was suspended due to blast. Banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan claimed responsibility for attack.

Chairing Cabinet meeting, he said that state would never forget bereaved families of Shuhada, who sacrificed their lives for country’s bright future. Interim PM Kakar reiterated that terrorists cannot defeat resolve of 240 million people of Pakistan, vowing that anti-polio mission will effectively continue till complete eradication of polio virus from country.

Cabinet, paying glowing tributes to Shuhada of Bajaur blast, strongly condemned attack on police personnel. It offered fateha for departed souls.

Meanwhile, Cabinet on recommendation of Federal Public Service Commission also approved regularisation of 227 teachers working on daily basis in Islamabad schools.
