Backlog of unprinted passports cleared

KARACHI: Backlog of unprinted passports has been cleared after special measures taken by Interior Ministry and issuance process will be completed within given timeframe.
Directorate General of Immigration and Passports is expected to issue passports across country in few days. Following emergency measures, backlog of fast-track passport applications was cleared.
It was learnt that fast-track passport issuance will be started today and backlog of urgent passports will also be cleared within two to three days.
Yesterday, Interior Ministry deployed additional machinery and staff to expedite printing process of passports.
After caretaker Interior Minister’s notice, Directorate General of Immigration and Passports received lamination papers for passport printing. Directorate started printing process to clear backlog of passports.
Authorities completed preparations to overcome shortage of lamination papers. Additional machinery and staffers have been deployed to expedite passport printing.
