KARACHI: Hashmat Habib President Tehreek-e-Tahaffuz-e-Adlia said President is only ceremonial person and PTI leaders should restrain them from damaging Constitution.

Commenting on latest video message circulating on social media by Babar Awan in rescue of Imran Khan he said that this gang after losing all conspiracies although played shrewdly, now they have started confusing people of Pakistan by projecting President Arif ‘almighty’ which is strongly condemned.  He after listening Advocate Babar Awan’s views on Article-45 of Constitution said views taken by learned PTI adviser are not only wrong but also an attempt to project President Arif Alvi with malafide intention.

He said President can perform his functions under Article-45 to grant pardons etc. but cannot set aside conviction even if conviction till arising of court cannot be annulled until PM has left office.  Lawyer said powers under Article 45 are governed under Article 48 and President is required to act on advice of Prime Minister. He said even under Article 45 President cannot remit or suspend or commute any sentence passed under Shariah Laws like Qasas because this is exclusive authority of aggrieved persons (legal heirs), he added.
