Karachi: The opening ceremony of the Girls event during the ongoing 6th Commissioner Karachi Cup Basketball Tournament was performed by Ayesha Iqbal Memon, wife of Commissioner Karachi.

KBBA offacials including Shahida Parveen Kayani, Ghulam Muhammad Khan, and other sports personalities like Ahmed Ali Rajput, Muhammad Yaqub, Sadaf Jan Baloch, Mubeen Naz, Zaima Khatun, Nusrat Afzal, Talat Idris  were present on the occasion.

Later, three matches were decided on the first day of Girls event, in the first match Bahria College(A) defeated KMA College by 18-28 points, in the second match Bahria Lazarek defeated PECHS School by 15- 22. In the third match, DROUPTS College defeated Bahria College (B) by 12-22. In these matches, Kanza Ali, Umima Abrar, Hafsa Jameel, Minayel Mohsin, Tayyaba Chaudhary, Nasreen Khatri, Zoyakanor, Isra Kamran, Alfata Shoaib, Ayesha. Baqir, Arzam Mukhtar, Aina Asif, Amima Khan, Tahseen Fatima, Zalekha Khan, Maryam Zahid, Noor Fatima and Ayeqa Nadeem played brilliantly.

In the Boys event, Karachi Basketball Club easily defeated DT Snappers by 52-75 points in the boys event. On behalf of the winner team, Daniyal Ahmed scored 28 points, Rajkumar Lakhwani scored 24 points and Muhammad Faizan scored 21 points, while Noor Muhammad scored 20 points, Mustafa scored 18 points and Nafi Farooq scored 12 points on behalf of the runner team. Malik, Muhammad Ashraf, Author Shah, Aamir Sharif, Tariq Hussain refereed.
