Awards encourage performers, Gov Sindh says at 8th Icon of Nation Award event

Karachi: Sindh Governor Kamran Tessori attended 8th Icon of Nation Award ceremony. Governor said that award ceremony is being organised continuously for last 7 years on behalf of Icon PR and Communication and Standard Gazette International Gazette, which is praiseworthy.

It will encourage all stakeholders and leadership will come in limelight by giving this award. Governor said that people belonging to business community, media, film, journalism, IT world, engineering and politics have performed prominently in their respective fields, while people who received awards distinguished themselves in every field. Proving potential, he said they need to be exposed globally, including in Pakistan and to encourage them. Kamran Tessori said that it is good to give awards for motivation, but merit should be given priority in all cases, awards should continue to be given to those who have demonstrated outstanding performance in various fields. Governor said that current economic and political situation of Pakistan requires attention of all of us, especially in context of events of May 9, we have to move forward as united and organised nation. Entire nation is with its armed forces and national security agencies, he added that country has given us honour, fame, position and status, now country needs us to return it. It’s time, each of us should come forward to serve country according to capacity and status, he added.

Prominent personalities of various fields present are requested to play their role in this regard. Governor said that distribution of ration, bell of hope, IT training programme and other initiatives were carried out for people.

Meanwhile, Governor visited to mausoleum of Mother of Nation Fatima Jinnah on her death anniversary. Nation gave her title of Madar Millat because she loved people of Pakistan like mother, Kamran Khan Tesori said.

Governor laid wreath at shrine and offered fateha. He also prayed for prosperity of country. Kamran Tessori is first Governor to visit shrine of Mother-e-Millat on her death anniversary and also recorded his comments in guest book. Meanwhile, Governor visited shrine of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, laid floral wreath and offered fateha.
