Asma Abbas, a renowned Pakistani television actress, has made headlines recently for her heartfelt response to online trolls targeting her son, Ahmed Abbas Gill.
Asma, who began her career with PTV and has appeared in notable dramas such as “Akbari Asghari,” “Ranjha Ranjha Kardi,” and “Khumaar,” is currently featured in ARY Digital’s popular drama serial “Baby Baji Ki Bahuwain.” She is also the sister of Bushra Ansari and the mother of talented actress Zara Noor Abbas. The controversy arose after Zara Noor Abbas shared photos from her brother Ahmed’s Dua e Khair event, a traditional celebration marking good wishes. Unfortunately, social media users directed negative comments toward Ahmed, criticizing his darker complexion in comparison to Zara and Asma. In her response, a visibly upset Asma Abbas addressed the trolls directly. She explained that Ahmed had recently returned from a trip to Thailand with friends, where he developed a natural tan from sun exposure.
“It’s perfectly normal to get a tan while on vacation,” she emphasized. Asma highlighted the hurtful nature of the comments, including derogatory remarks suggesting that Ahmed resembled a drug addict and criticism of his appearance in relation to his more fair-skinned family members. She recounted a conversation with her son, who expressed confusion over the negative reactions to his photos, asking why she had shared them online. Reassuring her son, Asma stated, “People will always have something to say. Don’t worry; your tan is just temporary.” Her candid remarks aim to not only defend her son but also to encourage kindness and acceptance, reminding everyone that beauty comes in various forms. Asma Abbas’s response has resonated with many, shedding light on the impact of online trolling and the importance of supporting one another.
