Asif Zardari to follow Constitution in ‘letter, spirit’: Bilawal to Maryam

LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz and Pakistan Peoples’ Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said that ‘unlike’ outgoing President, Asif Ali Zardari would follow Constitution in ‘letter and spirit’ after taking office as President.
According to details, Maryam Nawaz and Bilawal Bhutto co-chaired joint parliamentary parties meeting of PPP and PML-N in which mechanism was devised for presidential election in Punjab Assembly.
Bilawal said that he came to meet Punjab Assembly members to seek support for Asif Ali Zardari in presidential election. He said that Pakistan is currently going through crisis and all political parties have to play their role to take country out of crises.
“Asif Ali Zardari treats all political parties with same affection he shows to his party. Insha’Allah, Asif Ali Zardari would take care of members of National Assembly, Senate and provincial assemblies in four provinces,” Bilawal Bhutto said.
He said that political party used to do ‘politics of division’, urging need to eradicate same. “Young generation has to be taken forward in such way that they can bury politics of hatred and division,” he added.
Maryam Nawaz said that PML-N even if Bilawal Bhutto had not come to seek support for Asif Ali Zardari, her party members would still have voted for him. “President is highest constitutional slot of country and I am happy that political figure who understands problems of people will assume office,” she said.
Maryam Nawaz said that nation’s head bowed due to ‘violation’ of Constitution by outgoing President in last five years. “President’s House and power were used for politics during last five years,” she added.
