As terrorism gears up, Wana witnesses protests

Wana: Thousands of locals staged protest demonstration in South Waziristan’s Wana area against rising terrorism in tribal areas. According to reports, peaceful protesters holding white flags and beating traditional drums demanded authorities to restore peace in area.
Reportedly, leaders belonging to different political parties including PPP, PTM, PML-N and AWP participated in protest, holding government responsible for increasing terrorist incidents across country. They warned authorities that protests in area would continue until elimination of terrorists from tribal region. Mohsin Dawar an member of National Assembly from North Waziristan said in tweet that Pashtuns of South Waziristan came out in large numbers in Wana to protest against terrorism “Talibanisation in our areas”.
“Our people refuse to be used as cannon fodder and scapegoats in new great game being imposed on region,” he added.
