Arts Council Karachi’s literature festival 2023 kicked off at Alhamrah Lahore

Karachi: Three-day Pakistan Literature Festival of Arts Council of Pakistan Karachi started at Alhamra Arts Council Lahore. Sindh Education and Culture Minister Syed Sardar Shah inaugurated festival. Anwar Maqsood, Iftikhar Arif, Hamid Mir, Nayar Ali Dada, Kamran Lashari, Justice (retd) Nasira Iqbal, Kishore Naheed, Zafar Masood, Mian Faqir Ejazuddin, Fateh Muhammad Malik, Pirzada Qasim Raza Siddiqui and Razi Ahmed were present.
Visitors attended opening ceremony on screen outside hall. Banners and posters were displayed on major roads and intersections in Lahore. Book stalls were set up. People gave an enthusiastic welcome to Anwar Maqsood and Hamid Mir and Ahmad Shah. Sardar Ali Shah said culture of Indus Valley and sufis of Punjab is unparalleled. Sardar Ali Shah started his speech with poem of Amjad Islam Amjad. He said that he cannot be away from us even if he is no more. Arts Council Karachi and Ahmed Shah is doing this work in good way and we will continue to patronise, he added. Poetry of Sachal Sarmast, Lal Shahbaz Qalandar and Bhulay Shah needs to be publicized. Today we gathered in Al-Hamra in name of literature and culture, he added.
Picture of Amjad Islam Amjad who was supposed to join this festival but died this morning was placed on Amjad Islam's empty chair. Arts Council Karachi Director Admin Shakeel Khan prayed for forgiveness for Amjad Islam Amjad while Iftikhar Arif and Kishore Naheed expressed opinion on services of Amjad Islam Amjad.
Ahmad Shah said that nation whose culture dies cannot survive. There is lot of hatred and fighting in our society. We have to end these hatreds by developing literature and culture. This is our purpose of coming to Lahore. Lahore, Multan and Sindh are part of same Indus civilisation.
Anwar Maqsood, Hamid Mirfaqeer Ejazuddin and Zulfiqar Zulfi expressed their views. They thanked Zulfiqar Zulfi and his team.
