Islamabad: Joint Investigation Team (JIT) on martyr journalist Arshad Sharif murder case will depart for Kenya on January 15, investigators apprised Supreme Court (SC) conducting suo motu hearing. JIT submitted progress report on Arshad Sharif murder case to Supreme Court conducting suo motu hearing on journalist’s killing case.
Report stated that special JIT members will depart for Kenya on January 15 to collect evidence and post-mortem report of Arshad Sharif. Post-mortem report will be submitted to top court. Prior to submission of JIT’s progress report, SC Registrar Office rejected ‘photocopy’ of Arshad Sharif post-mortem report.
After registrar’s objection, JIT members submitted Sharif’s post-mortem report prepared in Kenya and affidavit again. Sources said that Registrar Office received JIT’s progress report.
Top court will resume hearing of Arshad Sharif suo motu case today.
In relevant development, federal government approved disbursement of funds to joint investigation team (JIT) formed to probe into Arshad Sharif killing case. Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah announced this. Moreover, Pakistani Embassy in Kenya did not reply to JIT, willing to probe in Nairobi, sources said.
