Army continues to assist civil administration in flood relief efforts

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Army’s all-out efforts to assist civil administration in rescuing flood affected continue across country. So far, 489 Army Aviation helicopters sorties have been flown to various areas for evacuation of stranded people. In last 24 hours, 4 sorties have been flown and evacuated 36 stranded individuals and delivered 6.35 tonnes of relief items to flood affectees.
Moreover, up till now 4460 stranded Individuals have been evacuated through helicopter sorties. Adding to this, 147 Relief Camps and 284 Relief Collection points in Sindh, South Punjab and Balochistan have been established across country for flood affectees. Some 7119.2 tonnes of food items alongwith 1271.1 tonnes of sustenance items and 4784460 medicine items have been collected so far. However, 6855.7 tonnes of food, 1203.0 tonnes of sustenance items and 4597776 medicine items have been distributed up till now.
