Armed Forces, govt working for relief, rescue of flood victims: Sharjeel

KARACHI: Sindh Minister for Information, Transport and Mass Transit Sharjeel Memon said that 23 districts of province were affected due to rain and floods while Pakistan Army, Navy and government were helping victims in this difficult situation. Talking to media on visit to flood relief camps in Taluka Rural Sharjeel Memon inspected flood affected villages of Rahuki and Husri branches and various relief camps set up in rural areas.

He inspected protective dykes of Rahuki branch and said that hundreds of villages have been saved from drowning due to timely steps taken by district administration. He said left side of Rahuki Branch was very weak, so he personally supervised work of filling up of cracks. He visited relief camp set up in Tando Hyder Government School. He said that 72 families consisting of 394 people including children have been given shelter in camp. Shrajeel said that due to lack of natural passage of water, level of branches had been increased, which saved hundreds of villages from submergence. He said that condition of Khairpur Nathan Shah, Mehar, Juhi and Naushehro Feroze was not good but members of provincial Cabinet are present in field to help victims.

Expressing regrets over PTI’s attitude, he said even in flood situation, people of Imran Khan’s party were spreading rumours for which FIA was approached to take action against them. He said Bilawal Bhutto Zardari was succeeded in getting commitment of Rs 130 billion for country within an hour.
