PESHAWAR: Apex committee huddle vowed to conduct intelligence-based operations and holding unfiltered talks with Afghanistan to tackle fresh wave of terrorism that had engulfed country.

Meeting had been called at KP Governor House days after suicide bomber targeted worshippers in masjid of Peshawar Police Lines one of highly-fortified zones killing over 100 people and injuring more than 200 others. KP’s caretaker Chief Minister Azam Khan, Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah, Punjab’s interim CM Mohsin Naqvi, Chief of Army Staff General Asim Munir, and officials of intelligence agencies attended meeting. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said federation, provinces and political parties should get united against terrorism for better Pakistan. told that committee decided to send diplomatic mission to Afghanistan to hold talks with Taliban-led Afghanistan administration. “Mission will produce evidence of terrorism activities being conducted by Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) in Pakistan before Afghan administration”, sources added. Meeting reviewed possibility of revitalising military courts and proposal of reactivation of courts would be deliberated at all parties conference (APC) called by PM on February 7. Political administration vowed to stand by armed forces through their struggle to eradicate terrorism.

Session approved proposals of upgrading police, couter-terrorism department and National Counter Terrorism Authority. Along with that, establishment of CTD headquarter, forensic lab, safe city project and expansion of horizon of CTD in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa were also given assent. Apart from that, border management control and immigration system were also taken into account beside reviewing prosecuting and penalising terrorists. Premier called for national unity by setting aside differences to tackle menace of terrorism as country recently witnessed one of deadliest attacks on security forces in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s capital Peshawar amid new wave of terrorism sparked since November last.
Expressing solidarity with families of victims of January 30 suicide blast in Peshawar, premier said every stakeholder should play its role to eradicate menace of terrorism. Political, social and religious leadership was united for eliminating menace of terrorism from country, adding “We will continue to fight until eradication of terrorism in country”.
Meanwhile a delegation of China National Nuclear Corporation led by Vice Chairman Liu Jing called on Shehbaz Sharif in Islamabad. Prime Minister said expansion of strategic relations between Pakistan and China is testament to decades-long friendship between two countries.
