Anti-polio drive begins after successful talks between LHWs, Sindh govt

KARACHI: Anti-polio drive kicked off across Sindh following successful talks held between protesting lady health workers (LHWs) and Sindh government. As per details, paramedic staff along with lady health workers held successful negotiations with Sindh health secretary.
Sindh government promised to give risk allowance to paramedics. Employees from one to 16 grade will get Rs 17,000 and staff above 17-grade will get Rs 30,000 as their risk allowance. President Lady Health Workers Pakistan Bushra Arain present in talks said, secretary of health assured of fulfillment of their demands. She added that lady health workers will start working from today on anti-polio drive but token strike will continue until official notification is issued.
Earlier, Out-Patient Department services remained suspended at government hospitals across Sindh. Paramedic staff and doctors boycotted OPD and routine services across government hospitals in protest for health risk allowance.
