Famed actors Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie have reached a divorce settlement, marking a significant development in their eight-year legal battle, according to People Magazine.
Jolie’s attorney, James Simon, confirmed the settlement, emphasizing that Jolie is focused on “finding peace and healing for their family.” “This is just one part of a long ongoing process that started eight years ago,” Simon said. “Frankly, Angelina is exhausted, but she is relieved this one part is over.” Once Hollywood’s most high-profile couple, Jolie filed to dissolve their marriage in September 2016, and the pair has been engaged in a lengthy court battle since then.
In 2018, the couple reached a custody arrangement for their six children, three of whom are adopted, though it appears to have unraveled over time. Pitt, 61, and Jolie, 49, have also been involved in a separate legal dispute concerning the sale of Jolie’s share of Chateau Miraval, the southern French vineyard where the couple had wed. The couple first met while co-starring as married assassins in the 2005 film Mr. and Mrs. Smith, while Pitt was still married to Jennifer Aniston. Their relationship, which began on set, quickly became one of the most publicized in Hollywood, leading to a marriage in 2014 and an eventual high-profile divorce process.
