Karachi: Foreign Minister and Pakistan Peoples’ Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari called for immediately impeaching President Dr Arif Alvi for role he played in vote of no-confidence and subsequent transfer of power. Reacting to President Dr Arif Alvi’s speech to joint session of lower and upper houses of Parliament, where latter called for conducting early elections and called on all parties to sit and decide on a date and terming it only way to end growing polarisation in country, Bilawal sought to remind his followers about President’s role over past six months.

President Dr Arif Alvi is complicit in unconstitutional efforts to sabotage vote of no confidence, he wrote in a post on microblogging site Twitter evening. He accused Dr Alvi of violating Constitution and his oath to undermine transfer of power after vote of no-confidence passed in lower house of parliament.

“Therefore PPP joined allies in boycotting his address,” he explained absence of treasury members from house. “We demand efforts to impeach him must begin as soon as possible,” he added.

Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari embarked on two-day official visit to Germany yesterday on invitation of his German counterpart.

Besides helping to consolidate and expand bilateral relations with Germany, visit will provide a valuable opportunity to strengthen Pakistan’s engagement with an important member of European Union and share our perspective on climate induced floods in Pakistan and regional and global issues. In addition to meeting Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock, Foreign Minister would hold meetings with other dignitaries and interact with media. Focus of visit would be on further deepening Pakistan’s economic engagement with Germany, a key export destination for Pakistan and identifying new opportunities for mutually beneficial cooperation.

Pakistan has longstanding, multidimensional ties with Germany, home to a sizable Pakistani community, an attractive destination for our students to pursue higher education and a major investment partner.
