Karachi: Alkhidmat Karachi’s Disaster Management team has formed specialised teams and put its cells throughout city on an immediate storm alert to counter threats of Biparjoy storm. All cells have been ordered to take stock of their disaster equipment, while volunteers have been put on standby for emergency response, rescue and relief efforts.

Plans to tackle urban flooding and other emergencies were discussed and preparations reviewed at team meeting chaired by Director Disaster Management Qazi Syed Sadruddin and attended by senior Manager Sarfaraz Sheikh and senior officials. Among measures decided was setting up of relief camps would be established in coastal areas of city such as Ibrahim Hyderi, Jackson, Malir, Korangi, Mauripur, Redhi Goth and others. These camps will be brought to notice of National Disaster Management Association.
