KARACHI: Court of judicial magistrate in Malir granted bail to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Sindh President Ali Zaidi in Rs 180 million fraud case on submitting Rs 10,000 worth of surety bonds.
Ali Zaidi had been produced in court at 7:15 am on completion of his three-day physical remand. During hearing, court was told by lawyer for plaintiff that an out-of-court settlement had been reached between them.
“Plaintiff is outside country. If lawyers for accused have any objection to settlement, we can withdraw from compromise. Bail plea will then be heard on merits,” plaintiff’s lawyer stated.
“No, we have no objection. During hearing, plaintiff’s lawyer did not have any arguments to present. “Mention of compromise by lawyer for plaintiff was only an excuse. What evidence can they produce in court when they have got none?” lawyer for Ali Zaidi maintained.
“Despite three-day remand by investigation officer, no progress report was submitted to court,” he added. “We were sure that we will succeed in getting bail today,” he stated outside court after Ali Zaidi was granted bail.
