KARACHI: Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah said that Aga Khan University (AKU) has been trusted partner of Sindh government for decades but in recent years, partnership has proven its value like never before. "At start of endemic, when Pakistan was recording its first cases of virus, there were so many unknowns, there were so many questions in need of answers at that difficult time, therefore expertise of AKU was invaluable."
Speaking on Aga Khan University Founder's Day 40th Anniversary and Convocation of Class of 2022 at Aga Khan University he said, "Expertise of AKU is invaluable and it is so willing to share its knowledge even in middle of night, there was always someone from University available to assist us."
Murad Shah said that as case count of Covid-19 rose and it became clear we needed to provide additional training to our doctors and nurses in caring for seriously ill Covid patients, we naturally turned to AKU.
CM recalled that throughout endemic, his government relied on AKU for data on spread of virus and arrival of new strains. Murad Shah said that he could recount many more examples of AKU addressing important health and education issues in partnership with public sector-from increasing access to vaccination in underserved areas of Karachi, to training teachers in rural Sindh.
CM said he would be working closely with AKU to bring outstanding health care and education to people of Sindh and Pakistan.
