Akhtar Hayat appointed as new IGP KP

PESHAWAR: Government appointed BS-21 officer Akhtar Hayat as new Inspector General of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Police. According to notification from Establishment Division, Hayat is 21-grade senior police officer currently serving at Federal Investigation Agency (FIA).
He has previously served as Deputy Inspector General in Malakand as well as DIG of Special Branch in province. Former KP IGP Moazzam Jan Ansari has been asked to report back to Establishment Division.
Development comes days after suicide bomber breached high-level security at provincial capital’s Police Lines area, blowing himself up at packed masjid and claiming lives of at least 100 people mostly policemen.
