KARACHI: Health of Noor Jehan 17-year-old African elephant at Karachi Zoo has further worsened as she fell into pond inside her enclosure. As per details, zoo management reported that Elephant Noor Jehan fell into cemented pond within her cage. They used crane, ropes and belts to lift her out of water.
Elephant is not able to stand and is laying down on floor. For past three months, Noor Jehan has been experiencing severe physical trauma and is currently an intensive care. It may be noted that seven-member team of international experts of Four Paws started treatment of Noor Jehan at Karachi Zoo.
Their visit follows an order by Sindh High Court in Karachi last year for Four Paws to assess health of animals after local animal rights activists had raised concerns in court about their well-being.
All four African elephants arrived in Pakistan in 2009. Elephant Noor Jehan and Madhubala had been moved to Karachi Zoo, while Malika and Sonu had been taken to Safari Park.
