Ahsan Iqbal assures Chinese companies of govt’s support to expedite CPEC projects

ISLAMABAD: Minister for Planning, Development and Special Initiatives Ahsan Iqbal assured full cooperation of government to Chinese companies by facilitating in Pakistan to further expedite projects under China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). A-six-member delegation of Chinese Peoples' Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (CPAFFC) led by its President Lin Songtian called on Ahsan Iqbal and discussed CPEC projects after recent visit of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to China.

Minister informed delegation that CPEC has been revived and recent Joint Coordination Committee meeting and visit of Shehbaz Sharif was clear indication that both countries have agreed to revive CPEC project which remained pending by previous government of PTI. He highlighted significance of ML-1 and KCR projects which were discussed during recent visit of PM to China and both sides have agreed to start these projects without any further delay.

Similarly, he highlighted importance of solar and renewable projects in which both countries have agreed to start projects. Minister informed about significance of agriculture sector as Pakistan has huge potential in sector and it can export meat, vegetable to China. He highlighted Pakistan's exponential growth and sought cooperation from China as it has expertise in export sector.

Establishment of Special Economic Zones also came under discussion. He said that Gwadar International Airport will be functional next year and there is great potential for tourism as well which Chinese should get advantage. Lin Songtian said that Chinese market has huge potential, providing profitability, stability and efficiency of business and assured Minister to cooperate in all sectors. Songtian said that China will send a group of experts to Pakistan so they could exchange their experience to execute several projects.
