KARACHI: Sindh Assembly Speaker Agha Siraj Durrani filed petition in Sindh High Court (SHC) seeking bail in assets beyond means case. SHC issued notices to persecutor NAB and other relevant authorities and directed them to submit reply by February 23.

PPP leader moved SHC after an accountability court had rejected bail plea of Sindh Assembly Speaker Siraj Durrani in assets beyond means case. Bureau filed reference against Speaker, his brother Agha Masihuddin, wife, son, daughters as well as 13 others before NAB court in 2019 for allegedly accumulating assets worth over Rs 1.61 billion through illegal means.

He had been arrested in premises of Supreme Court last year after three-judge bench turned down his plea for pre-arrest bail and instead directed him to surrender before national graft buster.

Durrani appeared before apex court after evading anti-corruption watchdog for month and half. He gone into hiding after Sindh High Court revoked his bail.
